OXFAM HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUNDRAISER

Sunday January 31st
St Asaph Leisure Centre

30 brave exercisers braved snow on a freezing sunday afternoon to take part in this Charity session. Everyone gave freely, some donated, some got sponsorship. The Leisure Centre halved the rental on the gym. Star guest Instructors Mike Thomas and Dave Earnshaw donated their time too with aerobics and pilates. Someone even got sponsored to wear a wig forthe whole hour ... very sweaty!

From beginners to fit guys, we all got a workout for a very good cause.

£475.90 RAISED  ... in 1 hour!

A MILLION THANKS TO ALL

TREE TOPS HIGH ROPES CHALLENGE - OCTOBER 2008
Dave being brave!

We did it! A group of 21 of us had a very challenging, invigorating and fun day out at the Tree Tops High Ropes Adventure Course in Snowdonia!

We started with a warm up on the Low Ropes Course, with problem solving activities to give us confidence and get us in the mood. Then after lunch we completed the High Ropes Adventurers Course. We progressed along a series of around 25 obstacles, through the trees, to a height of 50 feet (15 metres). Some bits were easier than others - some were downright scary.

The finale to this course is a Powerfan jump - a controlled fall of 50 feet. Quite an experience.

Once we'd completed the Adventurers Course, and after a cup of tea from the on-site van, 8 of us braver souls taxed ourselves even more. We ascended the largest Powerfan in the World. This involves a hand-over-hand vertical climb of 110 feet followed by the inevitable jump into infinity and beyond! A great experience.

MOONWALK EDINBURGH - 2008
Yes it was cold - it made us walk faster!

Noelle, her husband Dave and friend Emma Collins took part in the  Moonwalk Edinburgh on June 14th this year.

This is a 26 mile sponsored power walk event in aid of the health charity Walk the Walk Worldwide, funding treatments for breast cancer. 1 in every 9 women in this country may be affected by some form of breast cancer in thier lives. A worthhile cause for us to support.

Over 12,000 people, a few of which were men, took part in this huge event. We walked the midnight moonlit marathon in our bras - braving the cold and missing a night's sleep - to raise over £300 for the cause. We can't say that it was easy - I think Mile 25 lasted about a fornight - but we did it and did it in style completing the Course in just 7 hours.

Walk the Walk are an excellent charity, raising millions of pounds since their first event in 1998. They encourage healthy lifetsyle habits. Entering one of their events is often the first step to making important life changes. Visit the website for details of other events

Thanks to all who sponsored us, particularly Trydan electrical supplies for their very generous donation.

SNOWDONIA EXPEDITION REPORT 2009
the scramble close to the summit

The Ascent of Moel Siabod was a great success
On May 23rd, 32 of us (plus 4 dogs) conquered a peak in the Snowdonia range!  Some were experienced walkers, some were not. Some were confident they would find it easy, some were not. But EVERYONE made the whole 6 miles,  including the bog and the boulder fields, to the summit at 850 metres .... and down again. Congratulations everybody!   Lots more photos in the gallery.
